NPC BRAINSTORMING
The main Aegis Force consists of up to fifteen imPorts, but who keeps their base in Maurtia Falls running while they're off fighting crime on the Moon? To answer that question, six NPC TEAM MEMBERS have been approved for the team to serve as a standing HQ staff, answering the door for guests or fixing the sinks as needed.
ICly, this expansion also reflects Aegis' mission to build cooperation between imPort and native for the shared goal of protecting the innocent. To that end, Aegis has recruited the best volunteers that can be found among the Porter cities from humanitarian, law enforcement, or metahuman backgrounds to be part of the unit. And YOU can help create these new additions to the team!
Read the below descriptions, and if you have an idea of a character who would be a good part of Aegis' stories, fill out the below form to flesh them out. Any un-claimed characters will be created by Jesse. Once every NPC has a profile, a new page will be added to the team community with their information, and the FAQ will be updated accordingly. The roles are as follows:
ADMIN: basically the God of the Base, who keeps everything running behind the scenes with regards to appointments, payroll, scheduling, and more. Works at the front desk in the lobby.
INTEL/LIAISON: The person who talks to the government, local emergency services, and other sources offscreen to keep Aegis fully briefed and informed on information relevant to their tasks while maintaining relations with their allies. This person is also ICly in charge of creating the monthly Press Releases for the Majority Report. Works in the Command Centre.
MAINTENANCE: like the Admin, but in charge of keeping the physical base and its assets running, including vehicles.
MEDICAL: Works in the infirmary. For when someone wants to get their character patched up off-screen after a mission and there are no healers available to arrange something with
SECURITY: full-time armed sentry who welcomes and processes visitors and stands alert for signs of intrusion, espionage, or other mischief. Usually stationed at the front entrance.
The sixth NPC is a Trainee, an NPC metahuman seeking guidance and teaching from Aegis to control their powers. This NPCs bio is currently pending mod approval, but the other five have been pre-approved.

INTEL/LIAISON
AGE: 45
BACKGROUND: Teresa is the third daughter (of five) of a school nurse and an electrician/satellite television installer from Texas. Her father wasn't around much when she was little because of his job taking him around over half the state as needed, but when he was present he absolutely doted on his daughters. She learned a lot from her father growing up, but it was her mother who insisted that they get the best educations they could, that their girls would have the brains and opportunities to go as far as they could in life, and her parents spent a great deal of money to send their girls to one of the best private schools in the area that they could. She excelled in engineering, but her primary passions were government and history. She loved to learn about how the system worked and how the histories of various countries brought them to what they were in the present.
Her parents were hard workers, but with five girls to put through private school and to save for college, she knew that it was a strain on her parents that she didn't want them to keep dealing with. So instead of going straight to college, she joined the Marines and became a communications officer. What she didn't expect was that it would become more than just a way for her to save up money for college. There was a lot of pride that she took in her work and in knowing that what she did was important and integral to the operations of the military. Teresa ended up staying in the Marines for ten years, working her way up through the ranks until she became a communications chief. But after ten years, her mother fell ill and she took family leave time in order to help take care of her as her father had already passed two years before. It was spending the time with her mother, away from the Marines, that brought the realization that she while she was proud of her job, she wasn't satisfied in it anymore. She did not feel fulfilled or engaged as she once did or as she had been when she was in school.
So she left the Marines, having already used online schooling to gain a bachelors in political science and finally went to college (grad school) as she had always dreamed, at the age of 29, and to get a masters in Political Science and a bachelors in Foreign Relations. Then she used the connections she'd made in the military to get her an interview with the State Department and got a job as a Foreign Service Officer (aka Diplomat). They originally tried to encourage her to go in as an FSO with specialization in communications, but she hadn't spent years getting her degree and putting in the work to go back to what was basically the same job she'd had in the military.
She met her husband, Chi-hun, while working abroad in South Korea, has two children: a girl, June, who is 8 and a boy, Giovanni, who is 5.
With nearly ten years as a diplomat under her belt, military experience, and some overlapping with the CIA during both her years in the Marines and as an FSO, Teresa was tapped to be the liaison for Aegis Force as they knew she wouldn't take any bullshit and would also have the skill and diplomacy not to ruffle feathers unnecessarily and know how to present the Aegis actions and involvement on the public relations' side of things. She has the skill and experience to also pay close attention to anything and everything going on around the Aegis HQ, to recognize situations that would seem out of place, as not everyone trusts the Aegis Force's intentions, even though they've done a lot of good in the community and for the imPort reputations as a whole. She may be giving them intelligence from the government, and spinning that information and the Aegis mission for the public, but she is also monitoring them in return.
DESCRIPTION/APPEARANCE: Lauren Vélez
EXTRA DETAILS: Teresa has a very diplomatic, charming, and outwardly disarming demeanor for the public. She portrays herself in a calm, engaged, and unassuming way because she finds that perception leaves people more at ease with her and makes them more likely to say things they normally wouldn't. But beyond that she can be a smiling balls-buster. She can smell bullshit from a mile away and knows how to twist things to make people see and think what she wants them to. That is how she got the moniker "The Iceberg" while working for the State Department because she looks simple and unthreatening on the surface, but anyone who gets too close or doubts her authority will find themselves seeing the real danger soon enough. She visits the command centre for Aegis Force daily, is always early and stays late as needed. She speaks five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Korean. Always takes her children's birthdays off of work to spend with them and takes a one week vacation in the summer for the family.
